Brandon spent years in an emergency department, and the habit that comes out of that is triage: separating the pain that needs attention now from the pain that needs a plan, quickly and without guessing. He also worked in an outpatient surgery center doing interventional Pain Management, so when a procedure is discussed he is describing something he has stood next to rather than read about: what is actually done, how long it takes, what the needle is aiming at and what the realistic range of results looks like.
