Chiropractic care at Mountain View Pain Center isn't a standalone crack-and-go visit. Our chiropractors work in the same clinics — and on the same treatment plans — as our Pain Management physicians, physical therapists, and acupuncturists. That means your adjustments are informed by your imaging, coordinated with your rehab, and adjusted (literally) as your condition changes. With our clinics across Colorado and Arizona, there's almost certainly a Mountain View chiropractor near you. Meet our Colorado chiropractors and Arizona chiropractors to find your clinic. Or go straight to your city: see a chiropractor in Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, or Phoenix.

What Chiropractic care actually does
Chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between the spine, joints, and nervous system. The core tool is the adjustment (also called spinal manipulation): a controlled, precise force applied to a joint that isn't moving the way it should. Restoring normal joint motion can reduce pain, ease muscle guarding, and improve range of motion — which is why Chiropractic care is included in major clinical guidelines as a first-line, non-drug option for low back pain.
Adjustments are one tool among several. Depending on your condition, your chiropractor may also use soft-tissue work, mobilization (gentler, lower-velocity joint techniques), traction, and guided stretching, and will coordinate with our physical therapists on strengthening the muscles that keep the problem from coming back.
Low back pain.
The most common reason patients see us. Whether it's a dull ache after long days at a desk, a sharp catch when you bend, or recurring flare-ups you've had for years, Chiropractic care is one of the best-evidenced conservative treatments for low back pain.
Sciatica and radiating pain.
When pain runs from the low back into the buttock or leg, the cause matters. Our chiropractors evaluate whether your sciatica is a good fit for conservative care — and because we share a roof with Pain Management physicians, escalating to imaging or an injection when needed doesn't require starting over somewhere else.
Headaches.
Cervicogenic headaches — headaches driven by neck joints and muscles — often respond well to Chiropractic treatment. Many tension-type headache patients also improve.
Joint pain beyond the spine.
Shoulders, hips, knees, wrists — extremity adjustments and soft-tissue work help many patients, particularly alongside Physical Therapy.
Neck pain and stiffness.
Hours at screens, poor sleep positions, and old injuries all show up in the neck. Adjustments and mobilization can restore motion and reduce the headaches that often ride along with neck dysfunction. If it started after a collision, that is usually whiplash — see our car accident chiropractor care.
Car accident and whiplash injuries.
Whiplash responds poorly to waiting-it-out. Early, gentle Chiropractic care combined with active rehab is a standard of care after auto accidents, and we handle the personal-injury documentation your claim needs.
Your first appointment is an evaluation, not just a treatment. Your chiropractor will take a history, examine your posture, joint motion, and neurological function, and review any imaging you have. If something in the exam suggests a problem that Chiropractic care shouldn't treat — a fracture, significant nerve compression, or a condition that needs medical management first — you'll be referred to the right provider, often just down the hall.
Most patients receive their first treatment within the same week. Adjustments shouldn't be frightening: your chiropractor explains each technique before using it, and gentler alternatives (mobilization, drop-table, instrument-assisted techniques) exist for patients who prefer them or whose conditions call for them. Mild soreness for a day after early visits is common, similar to starting a new exercise.
You should also expect a plan with an endpoint. A typical course runs a set number of visits over several weeks with defined goals — less pain, more motion, back to specific activities — and gets re-evaluated against those goals. Open-ended, indefinite adjustment schedules are not how we practice.
This is what actually makes Mountain View different. Consider a patient with a lumbar disc problem:
One chart, one team, one plan. Patients who bounce between disconnected providers lose weeks to repeated intake visits and conflicting advice; ours don't.
For appropriately screened patients, Chiropractic care is one of the safest treatments for spine-related pain — serious complications are rare, and the screening exam exists precisely to identify patients who need a different approach. It's also one of the best ways to treat pain without medication: no sedation, no opioids, no downtime. Tell your chiropractor about osteoporosis, blood thinners, previous spine surgery, or unexplained symptoms like numbness or weakness — these change the technique choice, or occasionally the treatment plan entirely.
Most major insurance plans cover Chiropractic care. If you were hurt in a car accident, care is usually billed to auto insurance or med-pay, and in many cases we can treat on a lien so you can start now and settle the bill when your claim resolves. We also handle workers' compensation cases.
Our front desk verifies your benefits before your first visit — call 720-749-5599 in Colorado or 602-325-2024 in Arizona.
Everyone deserves access to expert care, and we make that easier by accepting a variety of insurance plans. Browse the list below or contact us to learn more about your coverage options.
You do not need a referral and you do not need an appointment. Colorado and Arizona are both direct access states, so you can be examined and treated at any of our clinics without a referral. What makes these different from a standalone Chiropractic office is what is down the hall: if an adjustment is not the right answer, Pain Management physicians, physical therapists and imaging are in the same building, reading the same chart.

If you are uninsured, or your plan is one we do not take, there is a flat self-pay price for a first visit. Ask when you call.
No — you can book directly. Some insurance plans have their own referral rules, which we'll check when we verify your benefits.
It depends on the condition, but you'll get a specific plan with a defined goal at your first visit — and we re-evaluate rather than treat indefinitely.
Most patients feel relief or pressure, not pain. The popping sound is gas releasing from the joint, not bones grinding. Gentler techniques are available on request.
Often the honest answer is both, in sequence. Because we offer both under one roof, you don't have to guess: your evaluation determines the mix.
Yes — soon after is better than later. We document your injuries properly from the first visit, so your records are complete if you file a claim.
Aetna is on the payer list for our clinics. Coverage varies by plan, so we verify your benefits before your first visit — send your member ID with your appointment request and we will check it for you.
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield is on the payer list for our clinics. Plans differ in how many visits they allow, so we check your benefits before you come in rather than after.
Cigna is on the payer list for our clinics. We verify your benefits before your first visit so you know what your plan covers before treatment starts.
UnitedHealthcare is on the payer list for our clinics. Coverage varies by plan, so send your member ID when you request an appointment and we will confirm it.
Medicare is accepted at our clinics. Medicare’s own chiropractic benefit is narrow — Part B covers manual manipulation of the spine to correct a subluxation, and does not cover other chiropractic services such as X-rays. We will go through what your plan covers before treatment starts.
It depends on what an examination finds, which is the honest answer and also the useful one. Neck and back pain that is mechanical — joints, discs, muscles and nerves under load — is what Chiropractic and Physical Therapy treat, and that is where most people start. Pain that has not responded to those, or that travels down an arm or a leg, is where a physiatrist or an interventional pain physician comes in; our page on what a physiatrist is explains where that line falls. A surgeon is the last of those to see, not the first.
Neck pain that arrives with weakness or numbness in an arm or hand that is getting worse, clumsiness in the hands, or a change in walking or balance. Fever or unexplained weight loss alongside the pain. Pain that does not vary with position and wakes you at night. Neck pain straight after a significant impact is also examined, and imaged where the examination calls for it, before anyone adjusts anything. Those patterns are the reason a first visit here is an examination rather than a treatment.
What patients say;
“I have been going to the Mountain View pain center weekly for the last 9 months. I originally came for lower back pain which was resolved within 3 months of weekly visits. I have continued to keep coming because overall I feel better and more mobile. Dr. Nathan Peterson is so warm and friendly I look forward to chatting it up every week during my adjustment. The roller bed and stim is great too. If looking for a chiropractor highly recommend the Mountain View pain center downtown location.” - Patient at our Downtown Office
