Calla Lopez is a board-certified Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner in Pain Management at Mountain View Pain Center, seeing patients at Central Park. About

About Calla Lopez

Elon University – Bachelor of Arts in Public Health. Johns Hopkins University – Master of Science in Nursing. Vanderbilt School of Nursing – Adult Gerontology Primary Care Post-Master’s Certificate.

Calla Lopez is a board-certified Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. A Colorado native, she was raised in Littleton. Calla graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health. She then moved to Baltimore to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. She worked as a registered nurse on a Neurosurgery and Neuroscience unit, and later in an HIV primary care clinic at Johns Hopkins. Calla completed her Post-Master’s Certificate as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner at Vanderbilt School of Nursing.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending Pilates classes, and planning new travel destinations.

Clinical focus

Pain is rarely the only thing on the list

Calla’s certification is in adult gerontology, which is the discipline concerned with adults through to old age. That is not a niche within pain medicine; it is close to the center of it, because the people whose pain has lasted longest are usually also managing several other conditions and a medication list that has grown over years.

It changes what a safe plan looks like. A medication that is unremarkable on its own may be a poor idea alongside the four someone is already taking; a procedure that is straightforward at forty needs a different conversation at seventy-five. Knowing where those lines fall is a trained skill rather than a cautious instinct.

Her masters is from Johns Hopkins and her post-master’s certificate from Vanderbilt, and she is a Colorado native — so the patients she sees at Central Park are, in a fair number of cases, from her own city.

The conditions she sees are lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica and nerve pain, herniated discs, arthritis and joint pain, hip pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, peripheral neuropathy and headaches and migraines.

What she does

Evaluation, medication management and the next step

Calla’s visits start with an examination and a diagnosis. Her first job is working out which structure is generating the pain, because that is what decides the plan — and imaging you bring is read alongside the examination rather than in place of it.

Visits cover evaluation, medication management and ongoing pain care. Where an image-guided procedure — epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, joint injections, trigger point injections and radiofrequency ablation — is the right next step, it is scheduled at Northglenn or Interquest in north Colorado Springs, which are the Colorado clinics where those are performed in office.

Physical Therapy, Chiropractic and Acupuncture are in the same building, so where the answer is rehabilitation rather than a needle it is a handover rather than another referral and another wait.

Calla Lopez — FAQs

Is Calla Lopez accepting new patients?

Availability changes from week to week, so the honest answer is to ask. Request an appointment online and say you would like to see Calla, or call the Colorado number and our team will tell you what is open at Central Park. No referral is needed for Pain Management, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy or Acupuncture, and our goal is to get you in within the same week.

Where does Calla Lopez see patients?

At our Central Park clinic in Denver. Central Park is not one of the four clinics where image-guided procedures are performed, so if one turns out to be the right next step it is scheduled at Northglenn or Interquest.

Do I need a referral to see Calla Lopez?

No. Pain Management at Mountain View Pain Center does not require a referral, and neither do Chiropractic, Physical Therapy or Acupuncture. If your own plan requires one, our team will tell you when they verify your benefits.

Which insurance is accepted?

I am on several medications already. Will that limit what can be done?

It shapes the plan rather than limiting it, and it is exactly the sort of thing to bring a full list for. Interactions, kidney and liver function, and what has already been tried all bear on what is sensible to add, and adult gerontology training is specifically concerned with those questions. In practice it often pushes the plan towards the non-medication options — targeted rehabilitation, Chiropractic or Acupuncture, or an image-guided procedure — rather than another tablet.

Request an appointment online any time.

Day or night, seven days a week — and we’ll text you back to get you scheduled. No referral is needed, and our goal is to see you within the same week. Colorado scheduling: (720) 749-5599.
