About

About Ivo Milic

Bachelor of Arts – Haverford College Doctorate of Physical Therapy – Arcadia University Dr. Ivo Milic received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania. Originally from Philadelphia, Ivo grew up playing soccer, skiing and running. He attended Haverford College outside of Philadelphia where he was a 4x Division III All-American in Track and Field. Ivo discovered the value of Physical Therapy while dealing with multiple injuries while competing in college. Ivo enjoys helping patients find simple and manageable solutions to complex and stubborn injuries. He loves working with a variety of patients from younger athletes to older adults aspiring to stay active and independent as they age. Ivo is diligent in staying up to date with current evidenced based practice to ensure he is able to provide optimal care. In his free time Ivo loves to drink coffee, cook, read books, play with his dog Roco and run around the beautiful Colorado mountains.

Clinical focus

Simple answers to stubborn problems

Ivo found physical therapy the way a lot of therapists do, which is from the table. He competed at a high level in track through college, collected the injuries that go with it, and spent enough time in rehabilitation to notice what separated the rehab that worked from the rehab that did not. What he took from it is a bias toward the small number of things that actually move the needle, rather than a long list that nobody has time to do.

That bias suits the two ends of his caseload. Younger athletes want to know the shortest honest route back. Older patients want to keep hiking, keep lifting a grandchild and keep their independence, and the same principle applies: pick the two or three exercises that matter, load them properly, and measure whether they are working rather than assuming.

The problems he sees most are lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain and sciatica.

In the room

What Physical Therapy here actually involves

The first appointment is an evaluation. Strength, range, control and the movements that reproduce your symptoms get measured rather than estimated, so there is a baseline to judge progress against later. You leave with an explanation of what was found and a small number of things to do between visits, which is the part that does most of the work.

Sessions combine hands-on treatment with loaded exercise, and the exercise progresses as the measurements do. Spinal decompression and dry needling are available where they fit the problem, and pelvic floor physical therapy is offered at selected clinics.

Where Physical Therapy is not the whole answer, Chiropractic, Acupuncture and Pain Management are in the same building and on the same chart, so a change of direction is a conversation rather than a new referral and another wait.

Insurance

Cost and coverage

Most plans cover Physical Therapy, and what varies is the visit limit, the copay and whether your plan wants a referral on file even where the state does not require one. Colorado and Arizona both allow patients to be seen without a physician referral, so the referral question here is a plan question rather than a legal one. Our team verifies your benefits before your first visit so the number is known in advance.

Before you come in

Ivo Milic — FAQs

Is Ivo accepting new patients?

Availability changes from week to week, so the honest answer is to ask. Request an appointment online and say you would like to see Ivo, or call and our team will tell you what is open at Northglenn. No referral is needed, and our goal is to get you in within the same week.

Do I need a referral for physical therapy?

Not to be seen here. Colorado allows patients to see a physical therapist without a physician referral. Some insurance plans still want one on file, which is a plan question rather than a legal one, and our team checks that when they verify your benefits.

How many exercises will I be given?

Few, deliberately. A list of fifteen movements is a list nobody completes. Ivo’s approach is to identify the small number that address what the evaluation found and to progress those as the measurements change.

I am not an athlete. Is physical therapy still for me?

Yes, and most of the caseload is not athletes. The reasoning is identical whether the goal is a faster race time or getting up from a low chair without help: measure what is limited, load it in a way the tissue can tolerate, and check that it is improving.

Where does Ivo see patients?

At our Northglenn clinic in the north Denver metro. Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, Acupuncture and Pain Management are all Mountain View Pain Center service lines, so if your care needs to move between them it moves on one chart.

Request an appointment online any time.

Day or night, seven days a week — and we’ll text you back to get you scheduled. No referral is needed, and our goal is to see you within the same week. Colorado scheduling runs through one number for every Colorado clinic: (720) 749-5599.
