From there, she worked over 5 years as a registered nurse at University of Colorado Hospital Anschutz in their outpatient thoracic oncology clinic. She completed her M.S. in Nursing and became a board-certified family nurse practitioner. In her free time, Brittany enjoys attending workout classes, country concerts, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. She lives in Denver with her 3 dogs.
Oncology nursing is one of the few places in medicine where you look after the same person for years, and it teaches a particular kind of attention: what the symptom is doing between visits, what the person has quietly stopped doing because of it, and whether the plan is one they can actually keep to.

Brittany’s visits start with an examination and a diagnosis. Her first job is working out which structure is generating the pain, because that is what decides the plan — and imaging you bring is read alongside the examination rather than in place of it.
Visits cover evaluation, medication management and ongoing pain care. Where an image-guided procedure — epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, joint injections, trigger point injections and radiofrequency ablation — is the right next step, it is scheduled at Northglenn or Interquest in north Colorado Springs, which are the Colorado clinics where those are performed in office.
Physical Therapy, Chiropractic and Acupuncture are in the same building, so where the answer is rehabilitation rather than a needle it is a handover rather than another referral and another wait.
