The commuter corridor

US-287, SH-7 and the Boulder County run

Lafayette sits on the commuter line between Boulder County and the north metro, and the collisions follow it. US-287 and SH-7 carry that traffic, and their signaled intersections — Baseline Road and Arapahoe Road among them — produce most of the rear-end impacts we treat.

South Boulder Road behaves differently. Collisions there more often involve a turning vehicle, which means a side impact and an injury that lands on a shoulder, a rib or one side of the low back rather than squarely on the neck.

The first three days

What to do before you are seen

The injury you have on the night of a crash is rarely the injury you have by Thursday. Swelling and muscle guarding build over roughly forty-eight hours, so the worst morning tends to be the third one.

Book the assessment before that point, even feeling capable. What it captures is a baseline, and a baseline is the only thing that later distinguishes a week-two symptom from an unrelated ache. Stay gently mobile rather than still, and jot down each change as it happens.

Some presentations belong in an emergency department rather than here: any loss of consciousness, weakness that is deepening, changes in bladder or bowel control, or severe pain following a rollover or a high-speed impact.

Where you are seen

The Lafayette clinic on Exempla Circle

The Lafayette clinic serves Lafayette, Louisville, Erie, Broomfield and the Boulder County corridor, with Pain Management, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic and Acupuncture in the same building.

Coherence is the practical benefit. Because the examination, the hands-on treatment and the imaging decision are all recorded in a single file, you never repeat your history and no part of the case goes missing in a handover.

The team

Who treats you, and what the record looks like

Whiplash and auto-injury training is held by every chiropractor in this practice. Working from the same notes beside them are Pain Management physicians holding board certification, the advanced-practice providers under their supervision, and the therapy staff.

Rides to and from appointments can be arranged for collision patients and charged against the lien. Interpreting is provided in whatever language you speak, at every appointment.

Paying

Med-pay in Colorado, and the alternatives

Three billing routes exist: the med-pay benefit on the auto policy, a lien if a lawyer is acting for you, or your own health coverage. Having a lawyer is not a condition of being treated.

Nobody has to refer you. Coverage is confirmed ahead of your first appointment, and there is normally something open inside the week.

FAQs

Can I be treated in Lafayette without a referral?

Yes. The clinic is on Exempla Circle and appointments are usually available within the same week.

Should I wait and see whether it settles?

Not really. Guarding and swelling build over about forty-eight hours, so waiting usually means arriving at your worst rather than avoiding a visit.

Which billing routes do you use in Colorado?

Med-pay on the auto policy, an attorney lien, or your own health coverage. Which one applies is settled the first time you come in.

My Lafayette collision was a long time ago. Is there any point?

Yes. Pain that has outlasted the expected recovery is exactly what warrants a look, regardless of the date on the accident report.

Do I need a lawyer first?

No. Legal representation and medical treatment are separate decisions, and we do not link them.

I have no way of getting there. Can that be solved?

Usually. Transport for collision patients can be arranged and charged to the lien.

Can I be seen in my own language?

Interpreting is provided at every appointment, in whatever language you speak.

What sort of injuries turn up after a crash here?

Necks and whiplash, headaches originating in the neck, mid and low back injuries, shoulders and hips, and nerve symptoms running into an arm or a leg.

A crash injury is easier to treat in the first week than in the second month.

Mountain View Pain Center treats crash injuries in Lafayette at our Lafayette clinic. No referral is needed, care is billed to med-pay, a health plan or against the claim, and appointments are usually available within the same week.
