San Diego State University- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University with an emphasis in MFT and MSPAS at Midwestern University. Maegan Kitzmann is a Physician Assistant who was born and raised in California. She attended SDSU for her undergraduate degree and completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. After working in that field for a short time, she made the decision to change paths and went on to become a Physician Assistant. She has been a PA in Arizona since 2016 with a background in Pain Management and family medicine. She is committed to her patients and their wellbeing and is very passionate about interventional medicine. On a personal note, Maegan enjoys traveling, watching sports and spending time with her family, friends, and furbabies.
Family medicine teaches you to take the whole history before you narrow, because the thing a patient mentions last is often the thing that explains the rest. Maegan brought that habit into pain medicine, and it shows in how a first appointment runs: the history is longer than people expect, and the examination is aimed at ruling possibilities out rather than confirming the one you arrived with.
That approach earns its keep with the presentations that are commonly mislabeled — buttock pain assumed to be the hip, arm symptoms assumed to be the shoulder, a knee that is actually being loaded badly by something above it.
The conditions she sees are lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica and nerve pain, herniated discs, arthritis and joint pain, hip pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, peripheral neuropathy and headaches and migraines.
Maegan’s visits cover examination and diagnosis, medication management where it is appropriate, and the interventional procedures performed at Westgate. Imaging you bring is read alongside the examination rather than in place of it — age-related change turns up on scans in plenty of people who have no symptoms, so a film is evidence, not a verdict.
Westgate is one of our four procedure clinics, which means epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, joint injections, trigger point injections and radiofrequency ablation are performed in office there, with fluoroscopic guidance available. Patients she sees at Peoria have their procedure scheduled across to Westgate.
Her bio describes her as passionate about interventional medicine, and the way that reads in practice is that she is direct about when a procedure is worth doing and equally direct about when it is not yet.
Maegan sees patients at Westgate in Glendale and at Peoria. Each page lists the address, the hours and what a first visit involves.
